thanks man! what do you mean by varying strokes though? i try to switch up my brushes every now and then.

It looks like you used the same radius and kind of brush for 80% of the painting, and then varied the size of the brush maybe another two times for smaller things. It leaves a permanent mark to your work and makes your edges very uninteresting. Look at m@'s work for a similair workflow, but where there is a big emphasis on edges through different size of brush-strokes etc. Paoo is another artist who does this kind of work who is very good at that :) If you want to paint something using only one kind of brush, and that brush has a recognizeable pattern, you should really make sure to go over your edges! Look at how Whit Brachna treats his speedpaints. If something is repeated too many times, it becomes boring to look at, and no matter how nice colors and values you have, it still looks a bit bland. Not saying that is what happens here, but you get the idea. Look at how much work Craig Mullins goes through to keep even his most simple skethes entertaining!

Fantastic pic. :)
I love how you did the lighting and shading on the submarine, and the details on the dock look terrific.
Love the water effects you added as the sub comes to surface.
